3.45 Market Rasen – CONCETTO (2pt win- 8/1 bet365)
CONCETTO hit form at about this time last year in 2023, scoring at Huntingdon on February 9th on his fourth start of the campaign and followed up at Musselburgh on March 1st. It was a similar story last season – he won this race by three lengths (February 6th) on his fifth start and added a Huntingdon win a couple of runs later. Best right-handed away from Ludlow (where the tough fences always seem to find him out), his record under these conditions from February until April reads 117151 (4-6) and the form of his Boxing Day runner-up effort to O’Connell at today’s venue has been franked by the winner.

5.30 Newcastle – STREAK LIGHTNING (1pt ew – 4/1 bet365)
Tasever made all over course and distance last time, but the lack of headwind made it easier for front-runners that day and the wind, gusting at up to 31mph, will be in to their faces tonight. He also faces competition for the early lead from Blackjack and there’s a good chance that this 7f handicap will be set up for a closer. Step forward STREAK LIGHTNING, the mount of Paul Mulrennan, who has placed over course and distance in four of his last five starts. He was only a two-length fifth to Tasever last time but fared second best of those to come from off the pace and he’s sure to be finishing to good effect.
