2.18 Hereford – GET CRACKING (1pt win – 12/1 generally)
Point-to-point winner GET CRACKING has yet to score under rules but December’s five-length 18-1 fifth of 13 over 2m5f here on his first start over regulation fences was a step in the right direction. Charlie Price, on board that day, is back in the saddle after the seven-year-old was let down by his jumping on much softer going under David Bass at Huntingdon next time and a clear round could see him go close at least now returned to this venue and upped to 3m1f.

4.03 Hereford – MELTON MOSSY (1pt win – 6/1 generally)
The form of Castelfort’s win in a 2m handicap hurdle at Chepstow on Welsh Grand National Day worked out well, with four of the beaten horses (from nine runners to date) scoring at the next time of asking (9-2, 7-2, 3-1 and 5-2). Two more made the frame at big odds (16-1 and 12-1) while King William Rufus was sixth at 20-1 (from 66-1) in the big handicap hurdle at Newbury last Saturday (some firms paid six places). Today, it is the turn of MELTON MOSSY, a 16-1 seventh of 14 in that Chepstow race after reportedly becoming outpaced early on. Evan Williams’ six-year-old went close over 2m5f at Ludlow on his penultimate start and the winner of that race, Solar System, followed up at Haydock. Today’s 2m3.5f trip looks ideal.
