2.25 Market Rasen – APPLE AWAY (2pt win – 9/4 William Hill)
After she finished a modest second to Grey Dawning at Warwick in January, I suggested that APPLE AWAY would benefit from the switch to mares-only company. Lucinda Russell’s seven-year-old was beaten against the boys the next twice but returned to winning ways at Perth in April, landing a Listed mares’ chase by almost five lengths from the Willie Mullins-trained Instit. She could only finish fourth of seven behind course expert Elvis Mail at Kelso on her reappearance but the three who beat her were all geldings and she’s back against her own sex today. Her record in mares’ races reads 1311 (3-4) and the return to a right-handed track is an added bonus (she’s 0-4 left-handed over fences but 2-3 this way around)

5.25 Dundalk – TUDOR MANOR (1pt win – 7/2 bet365)
Bang in-form Patrick Flynn has a solid record on the all-weather with his last time out winners, scoring with 13 of the 47 qualifiers (27.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £11.63 to a £1 level stake at SP. TUDOR MANOR won well backed over course and distance on his latest start, pulling clear in the final furlong to score with plenty in hand. The 6lb rise might not be enough to stop her and 7lb claimer Robyn Donaghue-Leahy, on board last time, retains the ride.
