Sam Turner's Best Bets BlogHART STOPPER (Yarmouth, 5.30) won this contest back in 2017 when trained by Michael Bell and has landed two tidy pots for connections since joining Stuart Williams in 2018.

Bought for £25,000 last autumn, the five-year-old has already paid that back with interest after winning two Class 2 claiming handicaps (including here) worth just shy of £40,000 in total. Out of luck since the last victory at Haydock, Hart Stopper looked a shade unlucky in a similar race over course and distance a week ago when short of room heading to the furlong pole, but rallied well in an attempt to get to the winner and added another £5,775 to the kitty for his troubles. That was his best effort so far in what has been a quiet season.

He should now be spot on to reclaim his crown in this pro-am lady riders’ race from just 1lb higher and is also reunited with Hayley Turner who rode him to victory 24 months ago.

INDIAN PURSUIT (Catterick, 4.30) has done most of his winning at the North Yorkshire venue, with five victories from 15 visits although none over today’s minimum trip. However, he has scored over 5f twice including at Thirsk in May and ran well over the trip 12 days ago, although finding the Beverley climb to the finish too much in the end.

He has a solid Catterick portfolio of speed figures and looks worth support in a competitive heat.

BE PERFECT (Catterick, 5.00) looks the class act in the finale even at the grand old age of 10

The selection is in fine form with a very easy Hamilton win in the book and ran well in defeat in a better race at Epsom last time. This is a lowly affair in comparison and it will be an upset if he isn’t good enough to bag a sixteenth career success.
