Lightly-raced and with a track record that reads 12, the four-year-old is prone to the odd stinker and posted a terrible performance at Sandown two runs ago when virtually pulling himself up. It has to be said it was a first try on soft going and he was in a much better mood here on better ground over course and distance last time, failing by just half-a-length to overhaul the winner after having nowhere to go heading to the 2f pole. Once clear, he rattled home but all too late.
Allegiant won here over an extended mile on his handicap bow when smartly away and making nearly all. Perhaps that is the key and hopefully Oisin Murphy will get a tune out of the selection this evening.
Allegiant 2pt win @ 7-4
A year ago he came from off the pace with a strong finish and again won going away last week. He is reunited with the in-form Cieren Fallon today and looks nicely handicapped even with a 4lb penalty.
Big Storm Coming 2pt win @ 2-1
JAGANORY (Chepstow, 3.30) is a bit of a monkey but competitively weighted after a series of uninspiring performances since victory at Bath in May. He did at least make the frame seven days ago - although he managed to throw away the lead - and is top of this pile on my speed figures.
Jaganory wins his fair share of races, including two here and this looks well within his grasp from a yard that had a winner at the track a few days ago.
Jaganory 1/2pt ew @ 11-2
