Sam Turner's Best Bets BlogELITE ICON (Musselburgh, 4.30) has been frustrating over a variety of distances but now returns to his course and distance-winning trip for the first time since May.

Jim Goldie’s gelding won nicely over today’s one and three-quarter miles on similar going, travelling sweetly before taking the running up late on. Erratic in five outings since, Elite Icon posted a solid performance here 20 days ago but looked one-paced over 2m behind Lever Du Soleil who was on the first leg of a quick-fire four-timer.

Both victories have come over today’s trip and at last he gets another try over course and distance in an open contest for which he should be each-way value.

BILL NEIGH (Musselburgh, 3.30) makes the long trip up to the East Lothian venue from Newmarket but not without good reason as he is 2-2 here.

The speedy youngster won a three-runner Class 2 conditions race first time out and made it a 100% track record when scrambling home earlier this month.

His two defeats have come in Listed company, including at Ascot in the Windsor Castle Stakes but although outclassed in both, today’s nursery company should hold no fears.

ATLETICO (Wolverhampton, 4.15) has had a busy if frustrating 2019 campaign but the money came for him at Beverley last Tuesday. Unfortunately, following some poor luck in running and then hitting the front, the selection was overhauled late on.

Though not one for major stakes, the seven-year-old runs this track well and the visor is now replaced with blinkers for the first time. He looks value at around 5-1.
