Kicking off the Coral-Eclipse fixture at Sandown Park on Saturday is the Group 3 Coral Charge, which is off at 1:50pm and is set to be a real cracking betting heat. Some classy sprinters will assemble on the sprint track in the middle of the course in what will be a contest that is a set to be a perfect opener for the day. Our tipster Steve Chambers previews the 5f race and picks out his 1-2-3 for the event…

Favourites
Second in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket back in May, She’s Quality then ran another cracker in defeat when finishing runner-up in the Temple Stakes at Haydock Park. Looking to finally get her head in front for the first time this season the four-year-old filly is sure to be on the vicinity at the finish and is entitled to be at the forefront of the betting.
Defeating her that day in the aforementioned Palace House Stakes was Rumstar, who will carry a penalty for that victory for Johnny Portman, but is one of the proven class acts in the race. Sixth in the Temple Stakes next up, he was last seen down the field in the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, but returning to calmer waters for this contest he has to be a key player.
Simon & Ed Crisford’s Adrestia heads into this event on the back of a fine win in the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Handicap at Royal Ascot last month, but she will need to build on that effort now stepping up to the Pattern company. However, she was a clear winner that day and must have the capabilities of playing a part in the finish here.
A former winner of the Group 2 Temple Stakes, Clive Cox’s Kerdos has failed to get his head in front since, but he was an excellent fifth in the King Charles III Stakes last month and a repeat of that should see him go close and he adds more depth to the contest.

Outsiders
Ed Walker’s Balmoral Lady won the Listed Achilles Stakes at Haydock Park two starts ago before finding the King Charles III Stakes too hot to handle, but a drop back in class her should suit her chances. George Scott’s West Acre was a sprinter going places in Meydan at the start of the year, but was 13th at Ascot in the King Charles III and is one that needs to show he can deliver the goods on British soil.
The three-year-olds gain a significant weight pull in this contest, so the hat-trick-seeking Queen All Star is an intriguing contender for Jack Channon and William Buick. A win at Wolverhampton was followed by another success at Sandown, so a return to the track this weekend could see her continue to see her blossom, while Jessica Harrington’s Saratoga Special is another three-year-old filly that warrants respect in an intriguing renewal.
Shagraan was third behind Balmoral Lady when the pair locked horns last time out in the Achilles Stakes, so he will be looking to reverse that form for Mick Appleby, but is up against it, whilst Manaccan and Change Sings complete the line-up.

2025 Coral Charge Tips
Plenty will head into this event with a big chance, but RUMSTAR is the proven class act in the race and having never been able to get on terms at Royal Ascot last time out, Johnny Portman’s charge could well relish the drop back to Group 3 level and he could well have a bit too much class for his rivals here. She’s Quality has been running well without getting her head in front, and may have to settle for silver medal again here, while Queen All Star can grab third spot in a likely blanket finish.
