1.50 Goodwood – Super Superjack (1pt each-way – 8/1 generally)

There’s a good chance that this SUPER SUPERJACK will give us a scare in the closing stages as he can hang to the right and left under pressure, and he doesn’t do a whole lot once hitting the front, but he is undoubtedly screaming for a strong stamina test such as this.

He looks ahead of the handicapper and is progressing at a rate of knots. The cheek-pieces going back on last time when narrowly touched off at Salisbury when doing excellently well from the rear of the field off a sedate gallop are a welcome sign to see retained.

His form has worked out well, and he is unexposed, having finished in the first two on 10 of his 14 turf starts. He makes plenty of each-way appeal in a race likely to be run at a furious gallop.

13.50 Coral Goodwood Handicap

2.25 Goodwood – Bayside Boy (1pt win – 3/1 generally)

BAYSIDE BOY gave the impression that we are yet to see the best of him when he had to wait for a run at a crucial stage in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, and his finishing effort was a strong one. He he has now had Berkshire Shadow in behind him twice, and I am not overly convinced that this track will suit the well-supported favourite Checkandchallenge. At the same time, the three outsiders need to improve significantly to play a hand here. Bayside Boy, and he has more natural pace than his old rival Berkshire Shadow and he now has his sights lowered after featuring in Group 1 company on his last four starts. This track could play to his strengths under Ryan Moore, and connections’ slow approach with him could be about to pay off.
Confidence can be taken in the fact that Roger Varian has expressed that this race is a springboard back into higher graded company in the short future, and he can gain a well-deserved victory.

14.25 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes (Group 3)
4th 9/4

3.00 Goodwood – Noble Dynasty (1pt win – 3/1 Paddy Power, Betfair, 5/2 generally)

3.00 Goodwood – Austrian Theory (0.5pt win – 25/1 generally)

NOBLE DYNASTY has everything in his favour for a big run today, and he is hard to ignore with what would be his main rivals drawn in the car park. He has a good record fresh, but he has been pigeonholed as one to back only off a break.

However, he was in the process of running a career-best second time out at Haydock last year before being continuously denied a clear run on the rail behind the very smart Nugget, and he finished with plenty left in the tank. The cheek-pieces can be blamed for his Newmarket flop before his gelding operation, and prior to that, he has an excellent record finding only Modern News too good by a neck and Mutasaabeq too speedy.

He has untapped potential now gelded, and let’s not forget he did cost a hefty 3.6m gns. He should be able to back up his reappearance win here from a good draw in stall four.

15.00 Coral Golden Mile Handicap

A small saver is had on AUSTRIAN THEORY at a price from stall 12 after showing an excellent attitude the last twice. He arrives at the top of his game, and this has almost certainly been the target as Mark Johnston’s sole representative in the race he won last term and in 2012.

He gives the impression he still has more to offer, and now could be the time to catch him.

15.00 Coral Golden Mile Handicap

3.35 Goodwood – Acklam Express (1pt win – 15/2 generally)

ACKLAM EXPRESS is a fair price here on the back of his excellent third at Ascot in the King’s Stand when having Equilateral and Lazuli in behind, and he returns to the scene of his brilliant handicap success in 2020.

He may not be the best horse in the race, but he has a very good draw in stall eight for his prominent racing position, and that could make all the difference in keeping Equilateral – the best horse in the race – at bay. Raasel and Mitbaahy are progressive types but will need luck in running, as will Lazuli if he starts slowly again.

The selection is underestimated on the strength of that Ascot run, and he has plenty in his favour today to reproduce the goods.

15.35 King George Qatar Stakes (Group 2)
7th 13/2

5.20 Goodwood – Caius Chorister (1pt win – 9/2 generally)

CAIUS CHORISTER is being aimed at the Ebor, according to a recent interview with David Menuisier on Racing TV and if that’s the case she needs to be winning this and winning it well off a mark of 85.

She is highly progressive, and there might not be enough in this race to stop him from racking up the five-timer.

17.20 Oliver Brown Handicap

8.30 Newmarket – Concierge (1pt win – 7/2 general)

CONCIERGE is running into form, and he was better than the bare result at Epsom on his latest outing, doing best of those from off a slow pace, so it is worth upgrading.

His previous effort here behind Abate was eye-catching when running on late to be narrowly beaten a length in a good time figure, and he has built up a good record here at Newmarket. This is his level, and providing Bossipop gets pestered for the lead, he should get a good target to aim at.
