1.15pm Sandown – Han Solo Berger (1pt win – 12/1 betfair, 11/1 generally)

It’s not often you see Frankie Dettori taking outside rides, and this is the first for Robert Cowell this year and third since 2018 – the other two finishing first and third both over five furlongs.

The form of HAN SOLO BERGER‘s win at Yarmouth has a bit of substance to it in the context of this race, and he can be forgiven for his latest flop at Newmarket when out of his depth in Class 3 company. In the hope that the new visor works again and he leaves behind his latest run at Newmarket, he should be worth a small interest at double-figure odds.

13.15 Oxshott Handicap

3.35pm Sandown – Sweet Reward (2pt win – 3/1 SBK, 11/4 generally)

SWEET REWARD makes plenty of appeal on the back of two excellent efforts in Class 2 company, including over course and distance, when a narrow second 18 days ago recorded his best RPR.

He may not be improving, but on a time figure basis of that run (fast time, did the best of those on the front end and was denied a clear run), he is well clear of many of his rivals in this field. He has plenty in his favour today, including the track, trip and ground, and there is little reason to oppose him. Light Up Our Stars could have more to offer over this trip.

15.35 Imber Court Handicap

6:30pm Leopardstown – Proud And Regal (1pt win – 11/4 bet365, 9/4 generally)

I was pretty impressed with the debut performance of PROUD AND REGAL at the Curragh on debut, and that race is typically a strong Maiden. The form is already starting to work out with the fourth since a winner and the fifth going close (2nd) next time out also.

He was very green under pressure, and the penny didn’t drop until late on when he stuck his head down and won going away. That performance suggested there was plenty more to come and that he would learn a good deal from the experience. He can improve past Age Of Kings to score here.

18.30 Japan Racing Association Tyros Stakes (Group 3)
