Power Of States (Doncaster 5.35pm, 1pt ew 13/2)
A whopping great big field so it wont come without its risks but POWER OF STATES was unlucky not to get off the mark in Handicap Company on reappearance at Beverly last month when suffering a poor passage through. He is taken to capitalise on this handicap mark off 77 now race fit and stepped back up in trip. Plenty of his form from last term suggests he is a winner in waiting off this handicap mark and the hope is for a more prominent ride.
Fox Chairman (Sandown 4.05pm, 1pt win 10/3)
FOX CHAIRMAN is worth another chance after his, well, poor reappearance effort in the Queen Anne Stakes but he was beaten a fair way out there to suggest that he never gave his true running and now back up in trip on a round course he makes plenty of appeal dropped in grade. This quicker surface should play to his strengths and he is worth on more chance to build on the promise he showed last season.
Mutasammy (Sandown 3:00pm, 1pt win 5/1)
This is excellent race but a chance is taken on MUTASAAMY who disappointed on seasonal return at Newcastle when a beaten odds-on favourite but put that performance well behind him next time at Kempton with a smooth run-away success. He has been handed a 10lb rise for that victory but even that looks lenient on the bare form of that race. He is bred to be smart, and that latest effort was a career best performance and there should be more to come and he can now take another big step forward off this mark of 88.
Asiaaf (Sandown 4.35pm, 1.5pt win 11/2)
ASIAAF is technically 2lb out of the handicap here when taking into consideration the three-year-old allowance but she still makes plenty of appeal on handicap debut off an opening mark of 80. The race she won at Goodwood on seasonal return when looking in need of the run has the makings of some strong handicap form going forward. The fourth, Kepala is a comfortable next time out winner off a mark of 75 and now rated 80. The second was beaten next time out by a useful looking debutant after being slowly away from the gates and the third is yet to run. She gets her fair share of weight here under the inform Hollie Doyle and has it in her to produce an electric performance. She is exciting.
Tiger Crusade (Doncaster 2.50, 1pt e/w 13/2)
David Simcock runners have needed it first time up this season but TIGER CRUSADE is so well handicapped on his two runs last season off a mark of 80 he is very hard to pass over. His debut over 6f saw him bump into Al Suhail now rated 112 but he was given nothing more than a hand and heels ride to get within 4 lengths in a good over-all time. The second, Imperial Empire has not shown his hand yet either despite winning next time out off a handicap mark of 75 and is one to watch. The selection comfortably won next time out despite needing every yard of the 6f to beat One Night Stand (80) and Buhturi (89) with the three pulling well clear of the remainder which included Aberffraw (77). He did that again, under a hand and heels ride and he could have plenty more to offer and its worth chancing that he is straight first time up.
