1.50 Newmarket – BREANSKI – 1pt e/w @ 8/1
This is a hot race but BREANSKI is worth siding with and any rain that continues to fall will play to his strengths. He is worth catching on his third start of the season yielding form figures of 5, 1, and 1 in the last three years. He was denied a run when fifth last term and stayed on strongly. His wins last term came off marks of 80 and 84 and the latter of those was when he got the better of today’s market rival Presidential when in receipt of1lb. He gets 4lb off that rival today and is only 1lb above his last winning mark. He is, for a six-year-old, unexposed over 7f when there has been cut in the ground and has been drawn on the right side of the track to be seen to best effect for his in-form trainer.
3.00 Newmarket – DUBAI FUTURE – 1pt e/w @ 20/1
Lots too like about the favourite here who is a previous winner for this column but DUBAI FUTURE is a potential Group horse and he put in an excellent showing at Royal Ascot off top weight on soft ground after a break. The hope is that today’s step up in trip will help the four-year-old back to the 1m6f that saw him improve over in Meydan. He should strip fitter for the run here and he offers excellent each way value.
3.35 Newmarket – AL MAYSAN – 1pt e/w @ 14/1
AL MAYSAN is priced wrong here he has improved with every start and the cheek-pieces brought out an impressive performance on the Rowley Mile last time out and they are retained today. He is potentially Group class going forward and could have any amount to come off this mark of 93. He needs to reverse the form with Global Storm and Zabeel Champion, both who look weighted to go well, but the feeling that we haven’t seen the best of this horse yet and at the prices he is worth chancing.
4.10 Newmarket – MAGIC WAND – 2pts win @ 9/2
MAGIC WAND offers plenty of value over the favourite who may be inconvenienced by any rain that falls. It won’t help the selection either but it shouldn’t hinder her as much given her effort against the boys at Royal Ascot last term when finishing runner-up to Addeybb in the Wolferton Stakes. Her recent run in the Eclipse is a stand out piece of form in this race and it was a career best effort on racing post ratings. She jumps back in against her own sex today and the level of form she has shown, particularly in the last year, is levels about most of her opposition. It’s unlike her trainer to turn one out so quickly but it worked the magic with this mare last year over in Flemington under Ryan Moore when landing a Group 1. She has shown enough speed for this trip and there is lots to like about an experience mare who could have more to offer.
