Sam Turner's Best Bets BlogDASHED (Lingfield, 5.00) and King’s Girl dominate the market for Lingfield’s concluding fillies’ handicap, with the former looking ready to take a big step forward after running well at Newmarket last time.

The Pivotal filly had disappointed on her seasonal bow but showed plenty of dash at HQ, looking like she had every chance before running out of steam late on. She didn’t appear to stay a mile and is returned to her winning distance on Thursday.

Dashed looks the most progressive filly in the field and, while King’s Girl can improve on her eight-length drubbing a month ago, she will have to go some to catch the selection.

MAKAWEE (Wetherby, 4.10) is another that should take some catching after a fine performance at York on Saturday and can be rated unfortunate not to be going for a four-timer today.

Beaten just a neck on reappearance at Hamilton, the filly moved up a grade on the Knavesmire and posted an excellent figure in disposing of the field with a very strong finish.

She looks like she can stay forever and gets a chance to prove that theory as she moves up to 1m6f and takes on some interesting fillies, including Potters Lady Jane from the in-form yard of Lucy Wadham.

ROWLAND WARD (Sandown, 6.30) has a thumping by Too Darn Hot on his cv at this venue but there was no disgrace in defeat and he came good himself at Nottingham last time on his handicap bow.

Another that looks an out-and-out stayer, he moves up in distance this evening and can shade a fascinating race and move on to better things.
