Top quality National Hunt action takes place at Fairyhouse on Sunday afternoon with the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle the feature race at 2:40pm, while the Drinmore Novice Chase and Royal Bond Novice Hurdle will be two other Graded highlights on the card. Our in-house tipster Steve Chambers previews the action and picks out his best bets…
1:05pm Fairyhouse – Bar One Racing ‘Guaranteed Overnight Prices’ Porterstown Handicap Chase
One of the most competitive betting heats on the card comes up at 1:05pm with the Listed Porterstown Handicap Chase and there’s a strong Gordon Elliott team lining up. Undoubtedly, the best of his runners is FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU who will have to give at least 11lbs away to all his rivals in the 3m 5f 160y contest, but the Cullentra House inmate is a proven class act and looks capable of carrying top weight to victory.
A dual Graded winner over fences, he was a faller in the Irish Grand National, but bounced back to form with a Grade 3 win at Limerick back in April. He will now step into the handicap sphere off a mark of 144 and with the potential of being an Aintree Grand National runner come next spring he will need to run a big race here. There’s plenty further down the weights that have to be considered, but Favori De Champdou has already proven his class and he can duly outbattle his rivals here.

2:05pm Fairyhouse – Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase
Gordon Elliott and Henry De Bromhead will lock horns in the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase at 2:05pm as Elliott will unleash four of the six runners and De Bromhead will saddle the other pair taking their chance in this prestigious contest. However, it’s the Elliott team that can come out on top in the shape of FIREFOX, who was an impressive winner at Down Royal last time out and looks capable of becoming a top notch novice chaser this term.
Kicking over three lengths clear of Mossy Fen Park, Firefox is sure to improve for that first start over fences and having beaten Ballyburn earlier in his career over hurdles he showed that he’s an elite Jumps horse. Heart Wood is the most likely danger and he impressed when winning last time out, but Firefox, who is the mount of Jack Kennedy can land this prize with aplomb.
Matthew Sutcliffe’s Value Punts – Selections for ITV Races Including in Coral Gold Cup

Thu 28 Nov 20242:40pm Fairyhouse – Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle
Only four go to post for the Grade 1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at 2:40pm, but there’s a mouth-watering match between reigning Stayers’ Hurdle hero Teahupoo and star mare LOSSIEMOUTH, who is looking to show her Champion Hurdle credentials with a win in this event over 2m 4f.
Teahupoo is the likely market leader and he has the proven stamina, but in Lossiemouth there’s a mare that shaped like a real superstar when first winning the International Hurdle at Cheltenham and then the Mares’ Hurdle at the festival a few weeks later. She will make her seasonal reappearance in this event having bypassed the Morgiana Hurdle, but if she can produce her best here then she can make the most of the 7lbs allowance and land the win. With a greater turn of foot, the Willie Mullins-trained starlet can continue her meteoric rise with victory at the weekend.
