Sam Turner's Best Bets BlogFIRST LINK (Lingfield, 3.00) couldn’t handle a big step up in class at Chelmsford last time but drops back to her comfort zone on Monday and can resume winning ways.

Prior to the trip to Essex, the filly had settled down well at today’s venue, collecting a brace handicaps in comfort. Both victories were recorded in decent times after strong runs to dominate the fields. Buoyed by the success, connections opted to move up to Class 2 grade 18 days ago but First Link failed to make an impression after pulling too hard in a race run at a mediocre pace.

The selection now drops right back in class and returns to Lingfield. She can land a belated track hat-trick.

ATYAAF (Wolverhampton, 5.45) never saw a racecourse for John Gosden but was well-backed to win at Chelmsford on only his fifth start and did the job nicely, swooping past the leader close home.

Unfortunately the gelding failed to follow up three weeks later but had to be taken down early, swerved right from the stalls and took time to settle. The finishing kick then failed to materialise and his winning chance vanished.

It looked to be a bad day at the office and Atyaaf has a big chance to atone up in trip in a lowly contest.

Atyaaf 1pt win @ 7-2

BOBBY JOE LEG (Wolverhampton, 7.15) has been threatening to add to his initial victories, although last time he was a little disappointing. Prior to that he’d hit the frame on three occasions, had been clocking well and now drops into a Class 6 heat.

That should make him very competitive and at around 8-1, looks excellent each-way value.
