We were on target with two of our four selections at 11/4 and 3/1 at Dieppe yesterday and we’re back with our top French Racing Tips at Vichy on Wednesday
TERRE DE FRANCE (1m2f, 12.10 Vichy)
Just touched off in a handicap on decent ground at Cagnes-sur-Mer three runs ago and put in two creditable performances since, most notably a couple of weeks ago at Saint-Cloud.
Down in grade as he drops into claiming company and worth noting that his last venture into that grade was successful in October under Maxime Guyon and it’s good to see that Guyon is back aboard again here.
ORANGEFIELD (5f, 12.50 Vichy)
Firmly entered the veteran stage now as a nine-year-old but he seems to have retained the ability to win a decent handicap.
Orangefield is a specialist sprinter and loves this course, winning two of his three starts over course and distance, and he was good enough to win a big Longchamp handicap in June last year.
Travelled very strongly before being trapped on the rail and getting no kind of run on his first start for 181 days at Chantilly two weeks ago and he may well be overpriced at around 20/1.
LA MIRADA (5f, 14.35 Vichy)
Finished a good third in a good handicap at Chantilly a couple of weeks ago and that run is all the more impressive given she badly missed the break.
The horse who finished fourth in that race has since out to win a sprint handicap, so the form has already been franked, and she can be successful if breaking on terms this time around.
ACHILLE DES AIGLES (5f, 15.10 Vichy)
On the face of it he finished a disappointing sixth on his first run for three months at Chantilly a fortnight ago, but the field split into two on that occasion and Achille Des Aigles won the race on the unfavoured side.
That run can be upgraded and he’s already proved his effectiveness at the course when he spreadeagled his rivals to win a soft-ground handicap by three lengths in August last year.
Expect him to improve massively on his last run.
