BEAT OF THE BLUES (Lingfield, 1.45), on the face of it, has plenty to find in the claimer at Lingfield on Friday but is fancied to turn the tables on his last race conqueror, Junoob.
Sent off favourite in a similar race 15 days ago, the selection made a valiant effort to make all but was just overhauled in the final 110 yards. That was only his third outing and the first since leaving Andrew Balding after a solid run in maiden company back in August. Judged by the money for the gelding, he had shown plenty at home for Alan McCabe but the three-month absence looked to ultimately cost him. Now race-fit and better off at the weights with Junoob, the late developer can come good in a race which should not take too much winning.
The twilight action is in the west Midlands and ENTRANCE (Wolverhampton, 6.10) and INDIAN EMPEROR (Wolverhampton, 7.10) warrant respect. The former was clocked travelling very strongly at Lingfield last time but suffered trouble in running 2f out which put paid to her chance. Better luck can bring compensation in this lowly handicap. Indian Emperor also contests a poor race and despite a dismal season, looked in much better order last Friday. The step up in trip looks to be the key.
