After striking with 8/1 Embour yesterday, Kevin O'Malley returns with a trio of bets on Saturday afternoon...
This Richard Hannon trained chestnut only won one of his six starts as a juvenile, but he acquired plenty of experience during that period. It didn’t stop him from not handling the dip at Newmarket last time out and drifting right across the track in the closing stages, but his waywardness in that regard did nothing to prevent him pulverizing his rivals quite impressively. An RPR of 110 and Topspeed rating of 88 mark him down as very much the horse to beat, he’s improving at just the right time to take in this Listed test and a price of 7/2 is fair enough.
On form ratings, there isn’t a great deal between the market leaders for this competitive handicap, but Forest Of Dean comes out much the best on RP Topspeed figures and John Gosden’s Iffraaj colt has improved enormously through each of his trio of starts in 2019. He’s up 8lb again now but is clearly progressing very well and another step forward here will see him prove very difficult to beat.
Jedd O'Keeffe’s in-form 4yo has proved himself to be a consistent and versatile type and he has improved through each of his last five starts, so is very much a progressive horse. He appears to have nestled upon a pretty average bunch of rivals in this 0-80, Class 4 handicap, the extra furlong shouldn’t be a problem and I think he’ll prove a little too good for this lot.
