Comments:

Reaver – I do question the merit of Irish hurdlers having to contend with flat penalties and that is a concern here, but Reaver put in a career best at Gowran last time out, running to an RPR 120 and Topspeed 112, which makes him a solid each way bet here. Edelpour has the best form, but is no world beater and can have a bit of a glass chin. Hopefully our lad can serve it up to him under Robbie Power.

Last Garrison – I like Cherokee Bill as an individual for chasing and he should run well here, while the market is favouring Peacocks Secret this morning. At big odds in an ordinary race however, I think Last Garrison can make a good fist of it for Mark McNiff and Derek Fox. This 6yo is a 13 race maiden but should’ve finished a lot closer than 7th in a 16 runner handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe back in July and the form of that race has worked out quite well. If he jumps well enough on chase debut, he could creep into it.

Song Of The Sky – A quality little maiden hurdle and this mare may be outclassed, but she clocked a decent speed figure on his hurdling debut at Sligo, before winning around here on the flat. She jumps well and 16/1 is probably a few points too big about her sneaking into the frame.

Frodon – I have so much time for this horse. Frodon may have been flattered by an RPR of 173 back in January, when pulverising a decent field at Cheltenham, but he is capable of racking up big figures and even though there’s little room for error in his BHA rating of 158, I think he’ll run a huge first time out after a breathing operation. Bryony Frost’s 3lb claim speaks for itself and if the pair get into a good jumping rhythm, he’ll be hard to beat. Value At Risk looks dangerous off 10st 4lb, while it’ll be interesting to see how Cloudy Dream gets on under the care of Donald McCain.
