Leg 1: 2.30pm

Leg 1 Selections: (4) Elite Status (9) Noche Magica

The solid plays in this are Karl Burke’s Elite Status who destroyed a Listed field in his second start to remain unbeaten. His trainer is a master with juveniles and this looks to be one of his best chances of the week. Wesley Ward’s charge could be boom or bust so for Placepot purposes we will side with Irish raider Noche Magica who found 6 furlongs a stretch last time but brings good 5 furlong form into this.

Leg 2: 3.05pm

Leg 2 Selections: (6) Perfuse (11) Valiant King

Elite Ascot trainer Sir Michael Stoute looks to have unearthed a good one with Perfuse who comes here on the back of two good wins. The step up in trip looks sure to bring about improvement in Valiant King as he’s been finishing off his races over 1m2f strongly.

Leg 3: 3.40pm

Leg 3 Selections: (1) Al Asifah

Al Asifah has the potential to be a superstar judged on her two starts, the latest of which was a commanding 6 length Listed win at Goodwood. The Frankel filly is a confident pick on Thursday and is the sole selection in this.

Leg 4: 4.20pm

Leg 4 Selections: (3) Coltrane (12) Eldar Eldarov

Roger Varian’s stayer Eldar Eldarov won the St Leger in style last season, and big things are expected in Open company at staying trips. He can prove the class act in this. The solid and proven option to add here is Coltrane who surely will not be far off.

Leg 5: 5.00pm

Leg 5 Selections: (19) Quantem Impact (2) One Nation (27) Royal Cape (7) Benacre

An outrageously tricky contest where I have no hesitation in popping four selections into the mix. Quantem Impact is the first on the list and could be the class in the race for Ralph Beckett. One Nation is the pick of the Godolphin pair and has some good placed efforts to his name. I will also include improvers Royal Cape and Benacre in the hope we get through the fiendish penultimate leg.

Leg 6: 5.35pm

Leg 6 Selections: (9) Epictetus (14) Torito

There are plenty in this but the pair to focus on are for the same yard and owner and it’s hard to imagine one of them not being in the frame. John and Thady Gosden saddle Epictetus and Torito who have similar profiles. The latter ran a blinder at Epsom earlier in the month and could well follow up.
