Sam Turner's Best Bets BlogISHEBAYORGREY (Newcastle, 6.20) became difficult to win again with in Ireland but moved across the sea to join Iain Jardine and almost scored at Ayr last Tuesday.

The seven-year-old has won a very respectable nine races from 64 starts, the most recent in early 2018 at Dundalk, a track where he was successful six times. Rated in the mid-80s at his peak, he joined new connections down on a lowly mark of 60 and races off just 59 today.

Well backed on stable debut over a mile here, he was a little disappointing but, over an extra 2f at Ayr last week, fought all the way to the line to be denied narrowly with the rest strung out behind. He is kept to a mile and a quarter this evening and looks ready to move his career tally of victories into double figures.

COLWOOD (Lingfield, 7.40) was bought from France for just 4,000gns and repaid most of that on his second UK run at Southwell in a better race than tonight’s.

Not able to repeat the feat since, he nonetheless has run some solid races in defeat and looked most unlucky last time. Badly hampered 3f out when full of running, he eventually saw daylight and stayed on strongly but too late.

At around 7-1, Colwood is hard to ignore. (Has since post shortened heavily)

TAMMOOZ (Lingfield, 8.40) no doubt went into many a notebook on his return to action a month ago. Off the track for 158 days and gelded, the three-year-old was sent off at 20-1, fell out of the stalls and then stayed on without threatening.

The step up in trip on this his handicap bow should suit.
