HeyhoeVado Forte can return to winning ways in the 4.10 at Taunton on Monday. On his best form, Tom Lacey’s gelding should go close in this fiendishly competitive affair

Indeed, this sixteen-runner handicap hurdle is a tough nut to crack but Vado Forte has been an improved sort since switching to handicap company and after a cosy win at Warwick on his penultimate start, he was only just denied by a similarly progressive type back at the West Midlands course on his most recent start.

He has to prove that he can handle this longer test but his strength in the finish suggests he should be fine over this 2m 3f trip. Interestingly too, Tom Lacey is something of a dab hand with his horses over this distance and has been operating a 21% strike–rate with hurdlers running between 2m 2f and 2m 6f in the past five years.
