HeyhoeRobin Roe can prove that he is more than just a talking horse by taking the 1.50 at Newbury on Saturday. This grade one prize has been the horse’s target since he won at Aintree 69 days ago.

His trainer, Dan Skelton, will be pleased to see that the ground is riding good to soft at Newbury which helps the eight runners who should be able to strut their stuff away from the traditionally gruelling conditions that tend to prevail at this meeting.

Robin Roe has long shaped like a high-class young hurdler and with the form of his scintillating Aintree success working out well, he looks the one to beat. Alan King’s Messire Des Obeaux has already scored at graded level and rates the chief danger along with the ‘could be anything’ Irish challenger, Baltazar D'Allier, in what promises to be a fascinating and informative race.
