HeyhoeVictory Bond looks an interesting contender for York’s 3.05 on Saturday but rain needs to fall if he’s to take his chance in the John Smith’s Cup for trainer William Haggas.

As things stand the ground will be too quick for the four-year-old to take part but if enough rain hits the Knavesmire before racing, Victory Bond makes plenty of appeal on the back of a fine third over too short a trip at York in May.

A tilt at Royal Ascot’s Wolferton Stakes was scrapped because of fast ground but perhaps nature may intervene this time and allow the lightly-raced and well treated Victory Bond to run in Saturday’s big handicap contest. Drawn high, he seems sure to improve for tackling this longer trip.
