Lalor is fancied to make a successful start to his hurdling career by taking the 2.50 at Exeter on Tuesday. This exciting five-year-old is a championship bumper winner, and rates a most interesting recruit to hurdles.
Richard Woollacott’s stable star was one of last season’s best bumper horses, and the form of his Grade 1 win at Aintree’s Grand National meeting was given a timely boost the other day when If The Cap Fits, who finished fourth behind Lalor at Aintree, landed a similar novices’ hurdle at Exeter’s last meeting.
Lalor is partnered by Tom Scudamore, and the pair face at least four potentially useful rivals including the J.P McManus-owned pair, Kapcorse and Onefortheroadtom while Alan King’s Harefield is another promising hurdling recruit though King’s horses seem to be in need of their seasonal debuts and there may be other days for him.
