Our tipster, Daryl Carter picked up a winner on Thursday and has five selections for Friday's card at Cheltenham, including a 3pt tip! Check out his choices below and GET £40 IN FREE BETS HERE
Galvin (2.25 Cheltenham, 1pt win 9/4
GALVIN only needs to finish inside the top two to qualify for the National Hunt Chase -a race in which he is ante-post favourite for- and the price is a little bit too good to be true so caution is advised. However, he is a second season Novice, for now, and his form when chasing home Imperial Aura at the Cheltenham Festival is the strongest on offer and he is race fit, with course experience, add in that his two market rivals make their chase debuts on the back of absences and he becomes very hard to ignore.
On The Slopes (3.35 Cheltenham, 1pt win 9/2)
The market vibes seem to suggest that ON THE SLOPES is fit and ready to go so a chance is taken that they are correct. On his best form, which came here at Cheltenham over 2m4f, he should be brushing this bunch aside especially now he is running over the correct trip of 2m. His third behind Simply The Betts and Imperial Aura (both now rated 157) make him look well treated off this mark of 143 and given he improved on the back end of last season with two good victories in which the form has been franked multiple times he should take some stopping. Many of these are handicapped to the hilt and his course experience will hold him in good sted and he could have plenty more to come over this 2m trip.
Pipesmoker (16.10 Cheltenham, 3pts win 6/5)
Not my usual price but PIPESMOKER should be an odds-on shot here and he is taken to make his hurdle experience count against inferior rivals. He improved with each start last term and kept some very warm company finishing a closing third behind Chantry House over course and distance on the back of a similar break as he is today the pick of them. Rated 137 it would have to be one hell of a performance (or an under performance) from the main market rival to turn him over and while there are some promising horses in this field the drop back into Maiden Company should see Nicky Henderson’s five-year-old break his duck.
St Just (Doncaster 4.25, 1pt win 11/2)
ST JUST loomed up menacingly when we backed him at Hamilton last time out looking like the winner two from home before folding in the closing stages. The drop back to 1m2f looks a good move by connections and he returns to the scene of his career best RPR when 2nd (pulled hard early) behind Thibaan (87) and off the same mark here in a Class 5 with Oisin Murphy on board, he should prove tough to beat.
Getaway Trump (Cheltenham 16.45, 1pt win 3/1)
I am not convinced that Fusil Raffles jumps as well as many make out and he showed signs at Warwick (as many other Novices did last term) that he will prove vulnerable at some stage (dragging his back legs through fences) and that could be on a course like Cheltenham so GETAWAY TRUMP, although not at his best so far this campaign, gets the vote. Paul Nichols’ runner would have likely beaten the eventual Arkle winner over course and distance last term on two occasions but for a mistake at the second last on both visits here and his two runs this season have suggested he is building to a bigger performance and this could have been the plan for some time for the master trainer. A reproduction of those two efforts (bar the heavy mistake at the second last, hold your breath) should be enough to capitalise on Fusil Raffles’ jumping frailties.
