SHELDON (1.50 Plumpton, 1pt each-way 5/1)

SHELDON looks a nice horse to keep on the right side of and he took a big step forward on hurdles debut to leave his bumper form well behind. He finished third in a strongly run race but failed to handle the downhill run at Chepstow and made an almost race-ending blunder at the final flight before closing at the line.

He left plenty to work on there but his circuit time managed to eclipse that of the other winners on the same card bar the Juvenile Grade One Hurdle in which he was only 13 lengths slower, despite running on deteriorating ground and he clocked the same three out to finish time as Adagio even with that big blunder at the last.

He has almost certainly run-up to a mark of 125 + on that occasion and with improvement forthcoming, he could well upset the market leader who suggested she wanted further than 2m at Newbury behind Pink Sheets.

BREWERS PROJECT (2.20 Plumpton, 1pt win 7/4)

BREWERS PROJECT is not entirely straightforward and must carry top weight here but his performance on the clock at Wincanton suggested that he is a useful prospect.

The switch to a left-handed track after losing lots of ground to his left at his obstacles last time is a big positive and he is open to significant improvement. The ground could prove the undoing of Lilly Pedlar and it's off-putting that Nico de Boinville has chosen Fantastic Lady, so the experienced seven-year-old from Ditcheat who is the yard’s only runner on the card is preferred.

CROSSGALESFARMGAME (3.20 Plumpton, 1pt win 3/1)

CORSSGALESFAMEGAME offered plenty of encouragement on her reappearance at Wincanton and in a well-run race and took a further step forward at Cheltenham next time and shaped like this new trip of 3m would see her improve further.

Connections looked to have found an ideal opportunity to test the theory and she relished a sharp track when bolting up by 12 lengths at Market Rasen last season so Plumpton should suit well.

She seems to go through any ground and this race on paper is a good deal easier than the two she has contested this season so gets the vote over Ridgeway Flyer.
