Present Value - (1.33 Exeter, 1pt Win – 6/1
Evan Williams’ six-year-old is not one for maximum faith but the return to soft ground should see him put in an improved performance after being beaten over course and distance by 48 lengths on a sounder surface last time. He makes the switch into open handicap company and his mark of 125 looks lenient on the basis of his Novice Hurdle form and his two runs on soft ground over fences. The ground, along with the combination of this 3m trip and the drop in grade are reasons to think that he could improve and it would be disappointing should he not be able to capitalise on this mark at some point this term. He should strip fitter for his recent outing here and has been a regular at this course in his short career with three runs and today everything looks right for an improved performance.
Trans Express 2.43 Exeter, 1pt Win - 17/2)
This is a poor race so it may be worth taking a chance on the ten-year-old TRANS EXPRESS to bounce back to form at a course he runs so well at. His last victory came here in March last year off a handicap mark of 119 and today he runs off a mark of 107. He hasn’t run at this venue since then and caught the eye at W incanton last time out over 2m5 ½f when a well beaten sixth but now drops into a 0-110 for the first time and is back over a more suitable trip of 2m1f and he looks a solid option at the prices.
Florrie Knox - 3.38 Uttoxeter, 1pt Win - 6/1)
FLORRIE KNOX set some useful fractions on the front end at Hexham over 3m on seasonal reappearance before being caught on the run in by an improver that was given a 12lb rise in the weights for back to back victories. The winner went on to finish fourth at Ayr when held up in a slowly run affair but stayed on in eye catching fashion so its likely the form can be relied upon. The selection was only given a 1lb rise and is well handicapped on old form and if in the same mood today over this more suitable trip of 2m4f he could prove hard to catch. He is lightly raced for a seven-year-old so could have more to offer yet especially dropped into a Class 4 Handicap Hurdle for the first time in his career.
