Wynn House – (2:35pm Ludlow, 1pt win)
WYNN HOUSE was given a good write up by Alan King in his stable tour earlier this week and she clocked a good closing time on hurdle debut at Bangor on seasonal return and she is likely to improve for that run and looks the standout candidate for this race on paper. She makes plenty of appeal in a race that lacks depth and although the main danger Granny’s Secret was less than impressive on the clock when getting her head in front at Huntingdon when last seen in March and will likely be over-bet.
MAGIC DANCER comes into this race with a fitness edge on eight of these runners and has dropped to just 1lb above his last winning mark and historically he has come on a bundle for his first run of the season. His form figures on a right handed track read 22321786222 and his return run at Plumpton was enough to suggest he still retains plenty of ability. This represents a drop in grade into 0-125 company for the first time since winning at Cheltenham in 2017 and he rates a solid each way bet.
FLAMBOYANT JOYAUX was the subject of a gamble for Sue Smith on Handicap debut after showing very little in three runs in Novice and Maiden Company but won going away off a handicap mark of 102 at Wetherby and the form has worked out well to suggest he could still be some way ahead. He bumped into the thriving Le Ligerien next time off today’s mark of 106 and the winner finished out the season on a mark of 137 (subsequently dropped after a lacklustre run in the County Hurdle) 10lbs higher. He returned this season with a good showing at Sedgefield and caught the eye but as many know Sue Smiths runner’s usually improve for their return run so more can be expected now off the same mark of 106.
Bandsman (4.00 Carlisle, 1pt win 4/1)
BANDSMAN looks to have a good opportunity to get his head in front after a few near misses and he looks on a very workable mark and has the benefit of race fitness on his side. Its likely he would have gone close at Market Rasen but for falling when making his move from the rear of the field and the form of that 0-130 is working out well. This represents a drop in grade and this looks the right trip for him and his best form has come on a sounder surface so with everything in his favour he gets the vote to finally come good.
