Defi Du Seuil 1 Daryl Carter is siding with five horses for this Saturday's racing and is relying on an old favourite to bounce back to form for his NAP. Find out his selections below, alongside Virgin Bet's new customer offer that provides £20 in free bets when you bet £10.

DEFI DU SEUIL NAP (2.05 Kempton, 2pts win 9/2)

DEFI DU SEUIL caught the eye on reappearance at Ascot with the way he travelled through the contest and looked as though he had the old spark back before tiring at the second last flight. That was his first run for 301 days and his first over a trip of 2m5f. It was also his first run over further than 2m since his 2019 JLT win at Cheltenham, so it's no surprise he finished tired. He should come on for that, as he did in 2018 when going through a similar spell in the doldrums, scoring at Exeter on his second outing. He receives weight from two of his three rivals, including Eldorado Allen, whose best efforts have come on big galloping tracks, and given he was out-paced at Huntingdon last time; this sharper test is unlikely to suit. Mister Fisher needs to put the abysmal King George performance behind him, and although he has a good record second time out, it's interesting that Nico de Boinville is here at Kempton but shuns him. That leaves Rouge Vif for a trainer in Paul Nicholls, who has won this race for the last two years, but he is surely not good enough to be winning this contest on the evidence of his last five runs. This Kempton track should suit the nippy Defi Du Seuil, and he is clear on ratings, even with the generous drop of 10lbs in two runs by the handicapper. Now is the time to catch Defi, who is the most decorated horse in the field and drops into calmer waters at the right time.

PARTY BUSINESS (2.25 Warwick, 2pts win 3/1)

PARTY BUSINESS was in the process of running a career-best in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle before a fall at the final flight, and this drop into calmer waters here means he has an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways. He has course experience, has run the fastest time figures and has the strongest form in the book, so it's baffling as to why he is not favourite. He looks a good bet today and offers plenty of value even at the 3/1 price tag.

MARIE’S ROCK and CH'TIBELLO (2.40 Kempton, both 1pt win 6/1 & 10/1)

MARIE’S ROCK bounced right back to form at the right time when scoring in impressive fashion over course and distance 20 days ago, and there is little reason to abandon her now. She showed a very bright turn of foot on her first attempt at this distance, and this bigger field scenario will even better suit her. She is at the top of the market, but I went into this race attempting to find one at a big price but came up short. CH'TIBELLO was the closest I came to a bet outside of Maries Rock, but I think there is a plan with this horse, although it would be no surprise to see if he popped up in this £100,000 handicap when it's worth more than the Coral Cup - although a Cheltenham Festival winner on the CV looks better. In fact, I will cover on Ch’tibello win only because there is nothing better handicapped than him, and he has been tenderly handled in his last few starts - Hereford would not have suited - and if not, we will get it back at Cheltenham.

GRISBI DE BERCE (3.50 Kempton, 1pt win 7/1)

Earth Company is the rightful market leader here, given how green he was at Wincanton last time, and there is surely more to come, but he may be seen to best effect over further than this sharp 2m, so the offering is GRISBI DE BERCE. Alan King's horse shaped with a good deal of promise on return at Taunton when shaping as though he needed the run behind an improver. He would have bolted up previous to that at Market Rasen if not for falling at the final flight off a 3lbs lower mark, and his novice hurdle run here in May was just to get a handicap mark after beating the 134-rated Cabot Cliffs at Huntingdon on his second start over hurdles. He sits on a very tempting mark, and there is plenty more to come now race-fit. He can be a shade keen, so the drop back to this sharp 2m looks a good move and he is of significant interest with a strong pace likely.
