PATIENT DREAM – (14:00 Epsom, 1pt win – 7/2)

A few in here appeal, but it’s hard to get away from PATIENT DREAM, who put in a good performance here at Epsom on return when he should have needed the run, according to paddock reports. He scooted away from his rivals, and the form has worked out well even when rated around the fifth, who almost scored next time under very similar conditions.

He will appreciate this step up in trip and was value for extra after jumping the path here last time, so the 7lb rise shouldn’t be an issue. He is a progressive type, and not all of these are straightforward, so they may have an issue with the Epsom track, but that’s no such fear with the selection.

CAMELOT TALES – (14:00 Epsom, 1pt win – 10/1)

On a busy Saturday, I will cover in the race on CAMELOT TALES, who is undoubtedly better than what he showed at Newcastle last time behind Derby contender John Leeper. That was too bad to be true, and he has been priced up on that being his true form, but his prior win on his only turf start at Redcar suggests he is much better, and it looks strong form.

The second won next time out and is rated 88, the fourth bolted up by 11 lengths next time and is rated 90, and the 5th ran the unbeaten 85 rated Norman close at Ayr. He got no run-on debut at Newcastle behind Counsel and Oz Legend – form lines that tie in with today’s favourite – and after just three runs, it would be silly to write him off this early. He offers a bit of value at his current 10/1 off this opening handicap mark of 85 so a win only bet is advised.

POSTED – (2:35 Epsom, 1pt win – 5/1)

POSTED caught the eye on return at Newmarket and shaped as though she would come on for the run there, and this, on paper, looks her easiest assignment for some time while acknowledging the weight she must give away to the three-year-olds.

This is undoubtedly her level, and she will appreciate this stiff 1m 1/2f. She looks over-priced in comparison to the favourite Maamora who she had behind at Sandown two starts back. She has excuses for her last two runs, so she is chanced to continue her progression.

OH THIS IS US – (3.10 Epsom, 1pt each-way – 14/1)

OH THIS IS US looks well over-priced here, especially on the back of an excellent victory at Ascot two starts ago where he was ahead of Prince Eiji, who is half the price.

He is 0-3 here at Epsom but has run some blinding races and has only been beaten a combined distance of 4 lengths by horses rated in the mid 110s. He handles this track very well and should have won this race in 2017 but for a blocked passage and can gain his just deserves here today.

SOTO SIZZLER – (17:15 Epsom, 1pt win – 6/1)

This could come down to a rematch between Group One Power and SOTO SIZZLER. The latter and selection is 4lbs better off with his April conquerer and only has 1/2 a length to find, but the winner had the run of the race on that occasion, and Soto Sizzler ran a blinder to close right the line.

There will be more competition for the lead this time around with Lost Eden and The Trader as well as one or two others, and a strong pace will suit David Menuisier’s six-year-old who has stamina in abundance, and the booking of Oisin Murphy suggests they mean business.

KIMI FIVE – (17:50 Epsom, 1pt each-way – 7/1)

This race could set up perfectly for KIMI FIVE, who has put punters through the wringer, but he is drawn wide to get cover around the bend, is a strong traveller with a good finishing kick, and they tend to fall back into the lap of those ridden with patience over this six-furlong trip.

He went very close on return at Goodwood over 7f but was denied a clear run (as he has been plenty of times). Oisin Murphy is back on board, and he is off the same mark as his Stewards Cup second last Aug.
