KNICKERBOCKERGLORY – (3.50 Wincanton, 4pt win – 15/8)

The form claims of Aucunrisque are there for all to see, and he does have a form line that ties in KNICKERBOCKERGLORY through Stream Of Stars. Still, the selection has been ridden with handicaps in mind, and his jumping has improved significantly since his hurdle debut.

At Taunton, he put in a devastating display to record a 7.87 secs (31.48 lengths) faster time than Natty Night (110) and was 6.62 secs or 26,48 lengths faster than JPR One (129). When comparing it from the 2m point to the 0-140 Handicap Hurdle 2m3f race won by Cap Du Mathan, who was carrying 11lbs less and given a 10lbs rise in the handicap to 133, he was 13.40 lengths ahead at the third flight and 16.24 lengths ahead at the second last recording an overall time of 20.20 lengths quicker at the line.

He was easily the fastest on the card, and he looks like a highly progressive horse for handicap hurdles and could easily be a 140 horse. This track should suit him well, and the ground will prove no problem at all. He trounced a 114 rated horse in his bumper at Ludlow on heavy ground but was far too keen on debut on seasonal return at Wetherby, and trying to hold him up at Haydock in Listed company didn’t work on his second outing, but he caught the eye running on strongly.

He is strongly fancied here off on handicap debut off a mark of 122 despite a competitive field. Magistrato is not taken lightly in receipt of plenty of weight, but Knickerbockerglory must win here to ensure he gets into the Betfair Hurdle, and he would represent last years connections of favourite Cadzand in that contest, so it may well be the plan.

The opening odds, albeit unobtainable for most was 10/1 3/1 and at that price he would have been a maximum bet. However, at his current odds we take it down a knotch and 7/4 plus is acceptable.
