Our top tipster, Daryl Carter has three selections across Monday’s competitive cards, including two selections at Chepstow as well as an each-way fancy at Wolverhampton. Check out his selections below, alongside Virgin Bet‘s new customer offer that provides £20 in free bets when you bet £10.

RED LION LAD – (1.00 Chepstow, 1pt win, 11/2)

RED LION LAD’s chasing career looks to have been put on hold after some sloppy jumping, and the return to hurdles over this 3m trip could see him to best effect. He caught the eye, staying on strongly over 2m3f here at Chepstow when last seen in this sphere, and he is sure to handle conditions better than most today.

His point to point form suggests he could have a bit in hand of the handicapper, and he is worth siding with now over a more suitable distance. He had wind surgery, tongue-tie and was fitted with cheek-pieces which remain on, so he is entitled to leave his Maiden and Novice Hurdle form well behind.

FIRAK – (2.00 Chepstow, 1pt win – 9/2)

A good race this but FIRAK is given the chance to build on his lowly rating now returned to fences after not being disgraced in good company on his only start in October 2020. He returns to the scene of his excellent ten length Maiden Hurdle victory on his penultimate start and he was tenderly handled over hurdles on seasonal return at Haydock.

He showed a real knack for this discipline when last tried and he almost certainly has the scope to be a better chaser than hurdler. In the hope that Harry Skelton opts to make all of the running, that could put the improving French Du Large under pressure in the jumping department. Farne is feared should she strip fitter for her recent chase debut behind the smart The Glancing Queen.

PRAISE OF SHADOWS – (5.00 Wolverhampton, 1pt each-way, 12/1)

Lucinda Russell makes the long 306 mile journey to Wolverhampton today for which she has had two winners from nine runners (22%) and books Tom Marquand for the first time for her only runner of the day.

PRAISE OF SHADOWS drops into a class 6 for the first time off the back of a short 45 day break and returns to Wolverhampton, where he has run he has run three excellent races in class 4 and 5 company. He is now on a career-low mark and steps back up to 7f on the all-weather for the first time since March 21′ and may have needed his first three runs after a gelding operation, and there were positive signs at Newcastle when held up off a sedate gallop. He looks worth chancing at double-figure odds.
