JAGANORY (Lingfield, nap, 1.20) has not lived up to expectations and is relegated to basement level on Wednesday.
As a two-year-old he had shown plenty of speed at home and duly won his maiden in a quick time at Salisbury last June. Well regarded by David Evans, the colt was then catapulted into the Chesham Stakes 11 days later but found the company way too hot. Unfortunately, the selection has struggled to make a mark since, although he did finish a respectable runner up on his nursery bow.
Last seen blazing out of the stalls in December but again failing to make the effort pay, he is now dropped into a claimer. I have Jaganory well clear on my speed figures.
Hillgrove Angel (Lingfield, 3.00) and Black Dave (Lingfield, 4.10) can make it a big day for David Evans. The former has been running well without winning and flashed home too late over course and distance 11 days ago. Today’s trip brings out the best and he can break his duck.
Black Dave is very interesting having been the subject of a gamble at Wolverhampton a few days ago. The yard’s other runner was a 9.30am withdrawal as the money piled on and the stewards have since referred the matter to the BHA. In the end, Black Dave looked a shade unlucky with traffic problems 2f out and connections will be keen to get it right with Harry Burns taking off a useful 5lb.
