2:25pm Exeter – BetMGM Haldon Gold Cup Handicap Chase
Only a field of six line up for the feature race of the day, the Haldon Gold Cup at 2:25pm, but it’s a really trappy betting heat. All eyes will be on Joe Tizzard’s JPR One, who is likely to be sent off the market leader, but he has to give weight all round to his rivals, and while he has some smart form in the book he could be vulnerable.
The Venetia Williams-trained DJELO competed in some top notch races last season and was a fine third behind Grey Dawning and Ginny’s Destiny in the Grade 1 Turners Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham. A Grade 2-winning novice chaser, the six-year-old ended the season being outclassed in the Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree, but he’d had a long season by that outing, so he’s like to come on for a significant break. In receipt of 2lbs from JPR One, the Williams raider can land this prize with aplomb.

Haldon Gold Cup Preview – Classy Field Difficult to Separate in Exeter Handicap
Exeter’s Haldon Gold Cup has been a starting point for the likes of Best Mate, Edredon Bleu and Cue Card in recent decades. This year’s six-strong field will look to emulate them on the way to greatness, as Joe Napier previews the field and gives his verdict. Elixir De Nutz would not have struck as…
Wed 06 Nov 20243:00pm Exeter – ICL, Impact For A Sustainable Future ‘Challenger’ Mares’ Handicap Hurdle
Kim Bailey’s BRENDAS ASKING broke her maiden tag over hurdles at the sixth time of asking last month and the six-year-old mare will look to follow up in a competitive 3:00pm contest at Exeter. She was made to work hard for that victory, but managed to claim a two-length success and she looks more than capable of going in again.
With the ground set to be pretty quick then it’s those underfoot conditions that could be the key to victory and she can make it two wins on the spin in as many months. She will have to contend with a 7lbs rise for that win, but all her rivals have been struggling to get their heads in front of late and she looks the most likely winner.
3:35pm Exeter – Haldon ‘Challenger’ Stayers’ Handicap Chase
Joe Tizzard will be looking to grab a winner at his local track and he could have a real lively outsider in the best betting race of the day, the 3:35pm event. Tizzard will saddle STRIKING A POSE and that eight-year-old was last seen running over hurdles, where he finished a decent third at Exeter.
Returning to the track on Friday, Tizzard’s raider will be looking to improve on that effort and off 122 he looks more than capable of landing a significant blow. It’s a track he performs well at having won there on four separate occasions and with that first run of the season sure to blow the cobwebs away then he can claim his fifth win in a cracking contest.
