Seven races take place in front of the ITV Racing cameras on Saturday 19th April, 2025, as the action comes from Haydock Park and Musselburgh. Our in-house tipster Steve Chambers previews the live terrestrial action and picks out his best bets across the two cards here.

1:50pm Musselburgh – LiveScore Bet Best Odds Daily Royal Mile Handicap
A really trappy one mile contest kicks off the afternoon action on ITV at Musselburgh at 1:50pm and the one to side with is the John & Sean Quinn-trained ZOWAL, who broke his maiden tag last time out, and can duly follow that up with another win here. The former French raider was making his British trainer in that victory, which came over course and distance and he could well follow that success up here again.
Beating Clouds Hill by one-and-a-quarter lengths that day, the Zarak colt comfortably pulled clear of his rivals that day to claim victory and he’s been handed a mark of 84 for his handicap debut. The likes of Invited and Wiltshire Lad also head into the event on the back of wins, but they may not have as much improvement in them as Zowal does off his current mark and he can take the honours.

2:25pm Musselburgh – Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Silver Arrow Handicap
Not out of the first three in his last five starts, which saw him claim two wins, WALEEFY could be one that continues his progression this season for William Haggas and he can claim victory in the 2:25pm contest at Musselburgh. The Night Of Thunder colt was last seen finishing third at Ascot back in September in soft going, but he should relish the return to a quicker surface on his comeback run on Saturday.
The four-year-old remained on a mark of 88 following that final run of the season, and while he’s sure to come on for his first start of the campaign here, he could still be well handicapped and is unsurprisingly towards the head of the betting for what is a competitive 7f 15y event.

3:15pm Haydock – Unibet Middle Distance Veterans’ Handicap Chase
Some old favourites take their chance in the 3:15pm veterans event at Haydock and the likes of Eldorado Allen and Le Milos have to be given the utmost respect if they can produce anything near their best. However, it could be worth taking the pair on with THE FLIER BEGLEY, who was beaten last time out by another of Saturday’s rivals in Dubai Days, but the form can be reversed here.
A winner two starts ago at Market Rasen, The Flier Begley was then third to Dubai Days, but he’s much better off at the weights on Saturday, so he’s more than capable of getting his head in front in their clash here. Many of the runners in this contest lack consistency, but not out of the first three in his last four starts shows that The Flier Begley remains an attractive betting proposition and he is the selection.
