There’s a Sunday treat for racing fans as there’s live ITV Racing from Huntingdon and Kelso, with the feature race of the day being the Grade 2 Peterborough Chase, which takes place at Huntingdon at 1:50pm. Our tipster Steve Chambers previews the action and picks out his best bets across the afternoon
1:50pm Haydock – TrustATrader Peterborough Chase
A superb winner of the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival back in March, PROTEKTORAT failed to carry top weight to victory in the Paddy Power Gold Cup, but did run well for a long way before tiring in the closing stages and bagging sixth. Now returning to Graded company for the Peterborough Chase, Dan Skelton’s charge is sure to come on for that outing and he could prove to be too good for his rivals. Ginny’s Destiny is likely to be the main danger, but he ran no sort of race in the Paddy Power Gold Cup, so is tough to fancy, while Djelo may just lack the class to down the Skelton hotpot.

2:05pm Kelso – Bruce Farms Scottish Borders National Handicap Chase
Sandy Thomson’s FLOWER OF SCOTLAND was a winner of this race back in 2022, but has struggled to kick on from that success, but he’s been falling down the handicap in recent times and could make the most of his current mark to land another win in the Scottish Borders National at 2:05pm. The nine-year-old has not won since that victory, but is now 4lbs lower in the 2024 renewal, so a mark of 109 looks attractive. He relishes a real test of stamina and this 4m 90y trip is ideal for him and he can get the better of Peaches And Cream and Raceview Road, who look the main dangers.
King George VI Chase Ante-Post Tips – L’Homme Presse Worth Chancing On Seasonal Debut
The King George VI Chase is one of the most prestigious Grade One chases in the National Hunt calendar. Widely regarded as the pinnacle of the festive racing, Kempton’s flagship event has seen the likes of Wayward Lad, Desert Orchid, Best Mate and Kauto Star all grace the Surrey turf with their hooves, and while…
Thu 05 Dec 20242:40pm Kelso – Richard Landale Memorial Handicap Chase
A facile 26-length winner at Cheltenham last time out, MATATA is looking to follow that up with victory in a competitive-looking 2:40pm contest at Kelso on Sunday. Upped 3lbs for that win, he will have to deal with a career high mark of 153, but he’s a horse going places over fences and looks to have the potential to become a Graded contender by the end of the season. Likely to be sent to the front from the flag fall, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained raider can lead his rivals a merry dance and storm to victory here.
