1.30 Newbury:
TANTSHI, SECRETLY and EVOKE are all interesting newcomers whilstABATED has a pedigree to die for according to connections.
I would be very disappointed if all four horses failed to be there or thereabouts at the furlong marker after which, the most forward of the fillies will presumably lead the others home.
TALQAA ran a race full of promise at Goodwood last week and should improve past SUPERNOVA HEIGHTS given her first experience, notwithstanding the traffic problems that Mick Channon’s filly endured along the way.
Richard Hannon has won four of the last seven renewals (14/1 winner last year) and with five entries at the penultimate stage, the trainer was obviously intent on improving his ratio. EQUITISSA was one of the least likely to run (or so I thought) in this opening division of the race which has been split into two heats.
Eight favourites have won via the last sixteen renewals, whilst ten market leaders secured toteplacepot positions in the process.
1.40 Newmarket:
Three favourites have won this opening event albeit seven different trainers have landed the spoils thus far. Four of the seven market leaders have finished in the fame but in so doing, the shortest priced favourite perished at odds of 1/2 three years ago.
STRICTLY SILCA and INTREPID set the standard thus far I guess, though it would be a little disappointing if the William Haggas newcomer NOBLE DEEDfailed to at least give the afore mentioned pair a test of some description.
1.45 Ripon:
Three of the represented trainers have won this race twice in the past nine years whilst William Haggas has also entered a runner.
With so many other races to look at today, you would be best served swerving this contest in my opinion, especially as only one favourite has obliged via the last eight renewals, notwithstanding other runners in the race trained by Kevin Ryan and David O’Meara!
If pushed for one name, NORDIKHAB would be the marginal call.
1.50 Chester:
Richard Hannon appears to have found a realistic target for MANDEVILLE who seemingly only has SURROUND SOUND and ELLA MOTIVA to beat.
2.00 Newbury:
John Gosden was winning the race for the third time in the last seven years twelve months ago and the trainer’s only entry earlier in the week wasEXCESS KNOWLEDGE.
John’s Monsun colt handled Sandown’s tough mile to good effect and there was plenty to like about the way the March foal went about his business, especially as Monsun juveniles are not noted for their strike rates as two-year-olds.
Course and distance winner JUST THE JUDGE undoubtedly has a chance of out-speeding Frankie Dettori’s mount over this shorter (and easier) trip however, whilst NINJAGO can be expected to improve upon his successful Chepstow (debut) winning form though in this grade, the Mount Nelson colt will really need to step up on his narrow success.
PASAKA BOY was given an each way squeak by yours truly before winning recently and Jonathan Portman’s course and winner more than deserves his place in the line up.
Miss You Too might struggle to become competitive with the other four contenders under these terms and conditions unless the ground softens up considerably.
Six clear market leaders and two joint favourites have obliged during the last fourteen years. Nine of the fifteen market leaders have secured toteplacepot positions in the process.
2.05 Doncaster:
Punters seemingly have it all to do on Saturday given the races I am viewing at present!
Choosing between a home win, a draw or an away success has got to be be more appealing than sifting through these seventeen maiden fillies with so many in form yards (Clive Cox–Peter Chapple-Hyam–Richard Fahey/Mahmood Al Zarooni) involved!
I don’t believe in ‘guessing games’ when dealing with other people’s money whereby in the absence of any real clues, I suggest you look elsewhere for your investments today.
2.15 Newmarket:
It is rare for eleven of twelve horses lining up for a Nursery event at this time of the season to have already tasted success whereby this should be a really competitive two-year-old handicap in the making.
FLEETING SMILE has only been beaten by Newfangled thus far whereby Richard Hannon’s Distorted Humor filly more than deserves her place at the head of the weights.
Those best to take advantage of the concession accordingly might prove to beWATERWAY RUN and DUSKY QUEEN.
2.25 Chester:
Connections of STORM MOON must be pleased with their Invincible Spirit colt to date, though whether the February will be able to concede anything between twelve and twenty one pounds to these six rivals is another matter entirely.
Mark Johnston knows the time of day and will be away that live dangers include FORRAY and MANDY LAYLA two name but two opponents, both horses having already won and in receipt of twelve and eighteen pounds respectively.
If STORM MOON proves up to the task, stick with the juvenile until he next tastes defeat.
4.00 Ripon:
Connections of ASHAADD might be hoping that some of the water that ‘flooded’ Chester racecourse just thirteen days ago will be lying close to the surface given the manner of his six length defeat of Ronaldinho on heavy ground at Windsor last time out.
If conditions remain on the (projected) fast side, PEARL ACCLAIM might find compensation for Richard Hannon (trainer of Ronaldinho) on this occasion.
4.20 Newbury:
Roger Charlton has saddled more two-year-old winners at Newbury than at any other venue in the land whereby his Green Desert February foal GREENERYtakes the eye here, whilst it’s worth noting that Richard Kingscote’s mount is related to winners.
Only Steve Drowne and James Doyle have ridden more winners for the trainer during the last five years whilst Roger had scored with five of his last thirteen representatives before Thursday’s sport was contested.
Ralph Beckett was sweet on his filly TALENT during a stable tour earlier in the season, whilst MALILLA did little wrong at Goodwood last week when only giving best to the three length winner Pearl Sea.
FLOATING ALONG was doing everything well in her early work before suffering one or two setbacks. It remains to be seen if others are a little further forward that the William Haggas filly at this moment I time.
Once again, Richard Hannon has surprised yours truly be declaring GLOSSY POSSE for this event given his fine record in the race (see comment for the 1.30 contest).
Eight favourites have won via the last sixteen renewals, whilst ten market leaders secured toteplacepot positions in the process.
6.30 Lingfield:
As the least exposed horse in the three runner contest, beaten favouriteSNOWBOARDER deserves another chance of securing a little prize money back towards the $190,000 purchase price!
