Newmarket’s Guineas meeting kicks off on Friday as one of two cards live on ITV alongside Goodwood. Matty Sutcliffe has three value bets across the meetings, including one who could go off much shorter on the day.

2:35 Goodwood – Racehorse Ownership From £25 At racingclub.com Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105) – Miss Attitude 13/2 1pt WIN
MISS ATTITUDE was an agonising nose second over C&D here from a pound out of the weights in a similar contest back in July, and she’s taken to make amends this time around.
The daughter of Cityscape returned to the winners enclosure at Southwell in March when getting up late to beat the long time leader Hiya Maite, pulling two lengths clear of the third. She ran to a similar level of form next time out when beaten a length off this mark at Newcastle, when not quite getting the gaps and perhaps not enjoying the stiff finish there.
Her twelve length last at Bath in listed company can be forgiven last time out, as she was never in with a chance after breaking slowly in a race where the first and second led form flag fall, and she again was denied a run several times, eventually being eased off by Charlie Bishop.
She was dropped a pound for that effort and while she is a pound out of the weighs here, I’m not all that concerned in this moderate looking affair for connections who won this last season with Desperate Hero. Kieran Shoemark takes the ride for the first time, and he’s two from three for the yard in the last twelve months (£24.00+).
2:55 Newmarket – Betfred “The Classic Bookmaker” Handicap (Class 3) (3yo 0-90) – Spectacular View 4/1 2pt WIN
Regular readers will know I tend to refrain from selections at this price but SPECTACULAR VIEW is a confident selection that I could easily envisage going off around 13/8. It’s a sign in itself that Buick jumps ship from Wild Nature given the combination have won this race four times in the last eight renewals, and a mark of 88 looks more than workable.
He was 7/2 in a strong Leicester Novice in August, finishing six lengths behind the subsequent Solario Stakes runner up Matauri Bay (106r), with the second filling that spot in the York Convivial maiden next time out, and the third is now rated 102 after winning next time out before finishing third in the G3 Autumn Stakes and that spot again in the Feilden Stakes this season.
Spectacular View was gelded four days later, and made a successful second outing at Chelmsford when winning by a neck, defeating the well backed 8/11F stablemate who’s now rated 92 after landing a class two handicap off 86 at Sandown last weekend.
He wasn’t disgraced under a penalty at Kempton when racing wide throughout up front in a race that generally paid to race patiently, and the third has since come out and won well on the Rowley Mile.
The return to turf shouldn’t pose an issue and both his dam and his half sister Queen’s Reign trained on which always bodes well for this reappearance.
3:10 Goodwood – British Stallion Studs EBF Daisy Warwick Fillies’ Stakes (Listed Race) (GBBPlus Race) (Class 1) (4yo+) – Loughville 12/1 1pt EW 3 places
Alan King has a 25% strike rate in non-handicaps here in the last five seasons and LOUGHVILLE has to be considered on that basis, particularly given she’s the sole runner with a recent run under her belt.
The daughter of Mastercraftsman was progressive in turf handicaps last seasons, with her record reading 1313331 and while it is concerning to see her beaten on both starts in Listed company, they did come toward the back end of the season on soft ground, where she might’ve been over the top by then.
Her form figures at this trip read 331, though she showed she can stay further when a staying on 1/2L third to Kihavah in the Queen’s Cup at Musselburgh on reappearance, recording a career high RPR in the process. She came on for her reappearance last term, and if she can step forward again this time around then she can be considered to outrun her odds, with her proven on sharp, right-handed tracks.
