Cold weather has decimated the National Hunt racing in the UK & Ireland in recent days, but Newcastle’s all-weather fixture on Friday 10th January, 2025 should beat the cold snap. 3.35pm Newcastle – Weekly Free Bets With BetMGM Extra Handicap

It’s a pretty low-level contest to kick off the action at Newcastle at 3:35pm and the 2m 56y contest is a race full of largely inconsistent performers. Breccia was a winner last time out, but is 4lbs higher, so may find it tough, so it’s worth taking a chance on SOCIALIST AGENDA for Laura Morgan. A winner over two miles at Southwell back in April, while he followed that up with a win at Chelmsford. A spin over hurdles was disappointing and he was last seen finishing in the mid-division at Southwell over 1m 6f last time out. Back up in trip for this event, he’s only 2lbs higher than his last winning mark, so if he can recapture some old form then he could well at least bag a place a decent odds.

4:10pm Newcastle – Weekly Free Bets With BetMGM Extra Classified Stakes

With one win in 16 races, JUST TYPICAL isn’t exactly a confident selection, but that success for the Ian Williams-trained four-year-old did come at Newcastle, so a return to the track on Friday is a big positive. A winner off 46 that day, he takes his chance off 49 here, so will need a career best to take the prize, but there’s plenty in here that have an equally poor strike rate and he could well be the best option for punters.

4.45pm Newcastle – Win 1M With BetMGM’s Golden Goals Novice Stakes

A €400,000 2-y-o purchase, Bragbor is a fascinating newcomer in the 4:45pm contest and is entitled to be well fancied in the market, but Roger Varian’s SOVEREIGN SEA was very impressive on his racecourse debut and he can duly make it two wins from two here. A facile four-and-a-half length winner on his first start, which came at Newcastle, the Ten Sovereigns colt quickened nicely to pull clear of some inferior rivals and he could be a smart performer. He will have to give weight away to his rivals here, but with experience in the bag he looks very hard to beat.

5.45pm Newcastle – Bet 10 Get 40 At BetMGM Classified Stakes

Grant Tuer’s GUNNERSIDE pops up every now and then in these sorts of contests and having been given the chance by the handicapper having been dropped 2lbs, it could be his chance to get his head in front again. The eight-year-old was last seen winning back in June off a mark of 51 and he’s since gone on a 12-race losing streak. But, back down to 50 for this event, he could well be capable of sparkling once again and is the tentative selection.
