Sam Turner's Best Bets BlogSOMETHING LUCKY (Wolverhampton, 2.55) has been running with credit in some decent handicaps this year but has found it hard to get his head back in front after an amazing 2018.

The selection started last year on a mark of just 50 but in a very busy campaign landed six all-weather victories and ended up with a handicap rating in the 80s. Two of those wins were over course and distance but he is such a versatile horse on an artificial surface that he has also won at Lingfield, Chelmsford and Southwell. Already on his thirteenth run of the year, the seven-year-old again gave his all 12 days ago in a Class 4 handicap run at a decent clip but it wasn’t quite good enough.

Something Lucky has some fine track speed figures in the locker, now drops into a Class 6 claimer and despite the competitive nature of the contest, can return to winning ways.

HEN (Wolverhampton, 3.25) does not immediately leap from the racecard but the filly looks to have a race in her and is tried with headgear this afternoon.

The step up to a mile and a half has seen her improve - particularly at this level here in late April when finishing third, beaten just over two lengths after getting loose on the way to the start. She was full of running late on off a dawdle of a pace and, granted they go quicker today, then she should be on the premises.

INCLYNE (Nottingham, 4.20) is another to have shown improvement stepped up in distance and only just failed to reel in the winner at Ascot 10 days ago on her handicap bow.

The going will be much quicker today but she handled it at Newmarket on her second run and is fancied to gain a first victory.
