SamTurnerThere is not too much to get excited about on a bleak Monday but WORLD OF GOOD (Lingfield, nb, 2.20) has found a new lease of life and is fancied to take the opener on the all-weather.

Olly Murphy has been farming the artificial surface this year with a fine 26% strike-rate, the selection adding to the tally 23 days ago. World Of Good had just come under his care following his mother’s (Annabel Murphy) retirement and had run well enough a month before without any headgear. She tried to make all over a mile but ran out of steam late on, just not getting home.

Next time, dropped a furlong and with blinkers back on, the mare was very well supported, came with a late charge after being held up and won with plenty to spare. Raised just 3lb, she looks well handicapped and can follow up.

POUR LA VICTOIRE (Lingfield, nap, 4.25) and RELEVANT (Lingfield, 5.25) also look worth a punt later on the card with my nap pick a two-time track winner down in class after running well in a much better race 23 days ago. He looked a shade unlucky in the Class 3 contest that he’d won in 2017, charging home late on after being hampered over a furlong out. Granted a clear run, Pour la Victoire can gain an overdue tenth career success.

Serena Brotherton has won on two of her six rides in 2018 and can bag another success with Relevant in the finale. The four-year-old filly is yet to taste success but has gone close on several occasions and again ran well when not quite staying a mile and a half here last month.

She is dropped back two furlongs this afternoon and, in a bad race, can gain a deserved first victory.
