Royal Ascot Saturday Tips: Best Bets For Final Day Of Royal Meeting

It’s the fifth and final day of Royal Ascot on Saturday 22nd June, 2024 and our in-house tipster Steve Chambers looks to try and end the week in style. He has four selections for the action which sees the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes take centre stage at 3:45pm…

3:05pm Royal Ascot – Hardwicke Stakes

Aidan O’Brien’s St Leger winner Continuous is a warm order for the Hardwicke Stakes at 3:05pm, while Middle Earth looks to be improving having won a Group 3 event at Newbury, but the former may be tapped for a toe a little and the latter will need to improve to win what looks a Hardwicke devoid of a quality performer this year.

With that in mind, take a chance on the French raider GOLIATH for Francis-Henri Graffard, who was a Group 3 winner in France two starts ago and will be making his British debut on Saturday. He has been running most of his races in soft ground, so it’s fascinating to see how he will be on a quicker surface and the four-year-old could be worth taking a chance on, if he can build on that Group 3 success, and he’s available at big odds to spring a surprise.

3:45pm Royal Ascot – Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes

Charles Hill and Jamie Spencer teamed up with the winner of this 12 months ago with Khaadem causing an 80/1 shock and while that raider lines up again here, it’s the other Fitri Hay-owned runner that can strike gold again for the deadly duo. MITBAAHY was a fine winner of the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh last time out and he shaped like he could be more than capable of going in again.

Down the field in the King’s Stand Stakes last season, Mitbaahy could be a perfect ride for Spencer, who is sure to look to pounce late and if he can replicate his run at the Curragh where he stormed home then he looks the one to side with in a hugely competitive feature race of the day.

5:05pm Royal Ascot – Wokingham Stakes

A huge field will line up for the Wokingham Stakes, but lightning could well strike twice as Archie Watson’s SAINT LAWRENCE can retain the crown he won 12 months ago. Rohaan showed in 2021 and 2022 that a horse can win back-to-back renewals of the Wokingham Stakes and Saint Lawrence looks a contender that could emulate that Ascot specialist.

A winner off 100 last season, he stormed to a three-length victory and he takes his chance off 103 here, so he doesn’t have to do much more than he did last season. He’s struggled for any sort of form since winning that race in 2023, but a return to Ascot should see him at his best and a big field handicap looks where he excels and he can storm to victory in what is a cracking betting heat.

5:40pm Royal Ascot – Golden Gates Stakes

Harry Charlton’s Hand Of God is a pretty short priced favourite for the Golden Gates Stakes, which is the penultimate race of the day at 5:40pm, but he’s worth taking on with a potential class horse in the shape of Aidan O’Brien’s CAMBRIDGE, who has been competing in Group company this season.

Fourth in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket on his comeback run, the Ballydoyle raider could then only finish fourth in the Dante Stakes at York, but he’s sure to not bump into anything like Economics here and off top weight he looks a cracking each-way play at double-figured odds. He will relish the quicker ground on Saturday and still holding an Irish Derby entry he’s held in high regard and he can land another win for the O’Brien operation.
