Sam Turner warms up for the weekend with fancied selections at Lingfield Park on Friday.
Moondance (Lingfield, 12.35)
It is a low key start to Friday’s Lingfield card and MOONDANCE is fancied to have too much in the tank for the lowly opposition.
The selection had shown glimmers of ability as a juvenile but the step up to a mile with the aid of blinkers last time appears the making of her. It wasn’t much of a race and she wasn’t strong in the market but Hector Crouch gave her a peach of a ride as she stayed on really well to take advantage of a green-running favourite. The filly got up late on and has been raised just 2lb for the narrow victory.
Given a 41-day break, Moondance now returns to action in a similar contest and it will be disappointing if she cannot build on the initial success.
Royal Dynasty (Lingfield, 3.55)
The card’s finale is another average heat but looks reasonably competitive and that should mean a working price is on offer for recent course and distance winner, ROYAL DYNASTY.
Bought for pocket money in December by new connections, the filly was fast away from her wide draw despite going right and hit the front before the first bend. Tom Marquand then dictated affairs, booted the filly clear heading to the final furlong and she wasn’t to be caught.
It was a fine performance for the grade by Royal Dynasty who had a couple of decent efforts to her name when with Ralph Beckett and James Fanshawe, and is bred to be better than this basement level.
