Sam Turner has two top-rated speedsters expected to run big races on Monday.
Forseti (Southwell, 3.00)
The handicapper has been giving FORSETI a chance of late and rated as high as 80 last year, the gelding is now on a mark of just 66.
After being sent off a big prices on his first five runs for Michael Appleby, the winner of three races was well backed over a mile here on New Year’s Day. Unfortunately, he failed to settle early and despite moving into contention, ran out of steam in the final furlong.
It was a disappointing effort as he’d run with promise a few days before - despite again being keen - and was looking ready to get back to winning ways.
In response, Forseti is now dropped back in grade and trip (last win in a seller over 7f) and, if his undoubted energy can be harnessed correctly, should prove very hard to contain.
Suitcase ‘n’ Taxi (Southwell, 2.30)
SUITCASE ‘N’ TAXI has returned to form big time since switching to the Fibresand surface in October and the renaissance can continue this afternoon.
Looking more like his old self with runner up spots recorded at Carlisle and Catterick, the decision to head to today’s venue has proved a masterstroke and the pacey five-year-old is now on a five-timer, courtesy of a gutsy victory over Mark Johnston’s well-backed Asdaa who won on Saturday.
That looks a decent piece of form and the selection may not have stopped winning yet.
Forseti (Southwell, 3.00) 1pt win @ 5-2
Suitcase ‘N’ Taxi (Southwell, 2.30) 1pt win @ 11-4
