Sam Turner's Best BetsBlogSam Turner came up trumps with Petite Jack yesterday and has two bets for Monday.

Reeves (Wolverhampton, 7.00)

We are all entitled to an off day and horses are the same with REEVES looking far from enthused last time.

The selection was on a five-timer after winning twice at Chelmsford, over course and distance, and latterly at Lingfield, banking around £40,000 in prize money in the process. However, despite a drop in class 19 days ago, he failed to fire and jockey Sean Davis reported that the four-year-old had run “flat”.

It looked like a performance too bad to be true and he reappears dropped back to 6f (his course-winning distance), with competitive speed figures in a race that may not be the strongest for the grade.

Reeves is expected to offer decent each-way value.

Straitouttacompton (Southwell, 4.45)

STRAITOUTTACOMPTON was on the scoreboard at the eleventh time of asking over course and distance 17 days ago, with a tongue-tie/cheekpiece combination working a treat.

It wasn’t much of a race and was run at an early dawdle but the pace picked up as the selection started to motor in the straight and he picked off the leaders close home. Most of his recent racing has been over middle distances but he looks a miler with some potential in low grade contests and I have him top on my figures to take this Class 6 handicap.

Reeves (Wolverhampton, 7.00) 1pt ew @ 5-1

Straitouttacompton (Southwell, 4.45) 1pt win @ 3-1
