Danzeno (Ascot, 1.05)

Danzeno stands out as the class act in this field and, although he is unlikely to recapture the level which saw him finish placed in Group 1 events at this venue a while back, he has at least found his consistency again this season.

His two best career efforts have been recorded over course and distance and his performance in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot when third to Cape Byron prior to his recent Haydock win was another fine display.

King’s Pavilion (Haydock, 1.55)

Jason Ward’s likeable handicapper would ideally prefer a smaller field (stats in 2-12 runner races a healthy 6-32) so, in the hope of a couple of non runners, he is put forward as the selection to enhance his creditable track record.

The selection has acquitted himself well despite being forced to race on fast ground for much of the summer – as was the case at Beverley last time when successful -and he should be a more potent force thanks to the recent rain.

Ananya (Newmarket, 3.45)

Ultra Violet, an impressive eight-length scorer on debut at the July course, is favoured by the layers to win this Group 3 prize and it is not difficult to make a case for a filly which gave away ground from the stalls before storming home.

However, the time of the race was far from spectacular and some onlookers felt Ultra Violet benefited from a pace collapse and a distinct advantage in being able to race on a favourable stands’ side rail.

If that is the case then Ananya makes plenty of appeal at double-figure odds given she boasts tons of experience of the July course and the demolition job she carried out over course and distance three weeks ago demonstrated she is a very useful filly.

Admittedly, the quality of race left something to be desired but the manner of the victory was visually pleasing as the daughter of Sepoy took off when hitting the rising ground to power clear late on.

Rider Brett Doyle was impressed with his filly that day and he will be more than happy if some of his rivals blaze away at a good pace here given the way Ananya made light of the seventh furlong.
