Sam Turner's Best BetsBlogTop tipster Sam Turner is a regular on Racing TV and a proponent of speed figures and sectional timing. Here are his best bets for the day’s action.

Equus Dancer (Carlisle, 1.20)

EQUUS DANCER is yet to encounter going this testing in his five-race career but has won two bumpers on rain-softened turf, including here in March by an impressive 12 lengths. That victory was backed up in a better race at Perth where he made most and stayed on strongly giving every impression that there was more to come over further.

Given 191 days to strengthen up, he reappeared back at Carlisle for his jumping debut over two and a half miles and apart from getting out-paced two out, ran a solid race. He’ll come on for that and over a similar trip today, should take all the beating.

Francky Du Berlais (Carlisle, 2.20)

FRANCKY DU BERLAIS can also make the long journey worthwhile for Peter Bowen by taking the competitive stayers’ hurdle.

This looks a good race even with just five runners and the selection should be some value to end a frustrating run after a cracking effort last time at Ffos Las in the mud, only spoiled by a mistake and stumble at the second last. He was nicely clear of the favourite and eventual winner at the time, but the misfortune knocked the stuffing out of him and he also wasn’t too clever at the last as he tired.

The first-time blinkers seemed to be doing the trick and they are retained as the tremendously consistent six-year-old is fancied to land a deserved third victory.

Equus Dancer (Carlisle, 1.20) 1pt win @ 9-4

Francky Du Berlais (Carlisle, 2.20) 1/2pt ew @ 11-2
