Sam Turner's Best BetsBlogTop tipster Sam Turner is a regular on Racing TV and a proponent of speed figures and sectional timing. Here are his best bets for the day’s action

If Good Luck Charm (Brighton, 4.40) is one of the best bets of the day then the standard of racing speaks for itself on Tuesday.

It is fair to say that this afternoon’s menu is very much the famine before the feast with a wonderful meeting at York on the horizon, but the veteran is at least in good heart courtesy of a smooth Lingfield victory last week.

Asking a 10-year-old to back up a few days later is a big call, especially as consistency has not been the selection’s middle name of late, but pickings are slim today with Hamilton abandoned and Good Luck Charm does at least boast a record of five wins from 18 starts at the seaside venue so is probably as good a bet as there is on a quiet day.

The layers won’t take too many chances with Simba Samba (Yarmouth, 4.55) and neither should they if he can repeat his efforts of last week.

Ryan Moore was a rare participant at class 6 level last week at today’s venue and those that noticed the association were rewarded with a winner, albeit quite hard-fought.

That victory represented a career-best on the figures and there should be more to come from a horse with few miles on the clock.
