The Listed Scurry Stakes is one of the feature races in Britain on Saturday. GG tipster Joe Napier has looked through the eight strong field of promising three-year-old sprinters, and is backing a 25/1 shot…

Favourites
As a horse with a solid strike rate and who has proven himself at three, Star Of Mehmas is an obvious place to start. Quick out of the stalls, he has been placed twice at Listed level this season, having claimed a race at this grade last season at Ayr, and is more than likely to give his running again.
That said, Hold A Dream finished ahead of her at Chelmsford at the start of May. Clive Cox’s filly is now 3lb better off compared to Richard Hughes’ inmate, so must be respected even though this will be her first start over 5f since her debut.
Coto De Caza concluded her juvenile season with a Group 3 success. That ensures she is one of three fillies conceding weight all round, and she was behind Star Of Mehmas at Ayr, but her Cornwallis success at Newmarket was a step up again. She has won three of her five races in all.
Last of those towards the top of the betting is Irish raider Town And Country. She has twice been second this season, filling that position in a Cork Listed race at 33/1 last time out, but was disappointing on her sole foray to England thus far.

Outsiders
Proudly Yours was fourth in the Chelmsford race also contested by Hold A Dream and Star Of Mehmas; she was only a neck behind the latter and now receives 3lb in weight, but her form on turf is inferior to that on the all-weather.
Pearl Of Windsor beat Hold A Dream over course and distance last August, which gives her hope as an outsider, though her form has dived of late and she has likely been surpassed by that rival since. One of just two males in the race, Marty Hopkirk is the least exposed, but requires a big step forward from his Wolverhampton novice win.
The other male, and only colt, is Kullazain, and it may be that James Tate’s charge is interesting in here. The son of Hello Youmzain was outclassed on his return, but he also ran poorly on his debut before improving for the run for a 4½-length success over track and trip on his second start at two. The runner-up is now rated 90 having won since, while Kullazain’s third to Coto De Caza next time out can be upgraded after missing the break and drifting across Newmarket’s track. The rain looks to be arriving for him as well.
Verdict
A chance is worth taking on KULLAZAIN with conditions set to suit. The son of Hello Youmzain won by a healthy margin on his only Sandown start on soft and is likely to be a completely different proposition than he was on his return in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock, which was a much higher quality of race than this anyway. He can overturn Newmarket form with Coto De Caza with 3lb more in hand now, with the biggest danger alongside that rival likely to be the consistent Star Of Mehmas.
- Kullazain
- Coto De Caza
- Star Of Mehmas
