Hunters’ Chase In Focus
Sam Curling’s Angels Dawn is likely to be sent off favourite for the race and he was a fine winner of the Kim Muir back at the 2023 Cheltenham, so has shown he can produce the goods on the big occasion. He’s won his last two point-to-points in fine fashion and is entitled to be at the forefront of the market in what is an intriguing renewal.
Its On The Line has twice finished second in this race, and while he’s gone on to win both the Hunters’ Chase at Aintree’s Grand National meeting and the main event at Punchestown at the end of the season, the Emmet Mullins-trained eight-year-old has failed to get his head in front, but he’s sure to be in the mix here.
Gordon Elliott’s Willitgoahead is a multiple point winner and will be another Irish contender that has to be considered, while flying the flag for the home time will be the Paul Nicholls-trained Shearer, who was an impressive winner last time out and has to be considered an each-way player.
